Romeo and Juliet:Practise Question

One of the main sources of fate that deals with Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence. He often says thing about the star crossed couple that normal people would find a bit dark and unwelcome. After watching the play or the film or even just reading the script , you can’t help but wonder why Romeo wouldn’t heed this warning, “These violent delights have violent ends”

It is great to see you experimenting with a more mature and reflective writing style. This is exactly what I mean when I say that it’s necessary for you to develop your ability as a writer to match your knowledge and understanding.

I like the idea that Friar Lawrence is a character who communicates Shakespeare’s idea of fate. It makes natural sense that this should be so given that fate emanates from God and the friar is a man of God.

To continue with this writing, but to develop it further, it would be necessary for you to find a wide range of quotations by Friar Lawrence, and present each of them, the context from which you’ve drawn them, and your interpretation of how they present the idea of fate.

Keep up the use of the second person ‘you’ at this stage as it adds a conversational tone to this piece that I think suits it well.
